How the Winery Came to Be

Agricola Bellaria was established from a deep passion for the Irpinia region, nestled between the Sabato and Calore valleys. This unique area, surrounded by the Partenio Park and the Picentini Mountains, benefits from a distinctive microclimate created by the convergence of winds from the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic. Since its inception, Bellaria has been dedicated to producing exceptional wines that have garnered prestigious awards in international competitions.

The first Bellaria wines were crafted in 2008, but the winery was officially founded in July 2011 by the Maffei family from Roccabascerana and Antonio Pepe, a seasoned manager with three generations of grape-growing experience in Montefalcione (AV). This young winery combines modern techniques with traditional practices, resulting in authentic wines that reflect the region's character. Oenologist Luca Zirpoli and renowned winemaker Dr. Mario Ronco contribute their expertise to ensure quality and innovation.

Initially established in 2002 for olive cultivation, Agricola Bellaria continues to produce high-quality extra virgin olive oil from its thousand olive trees of three different varieties.

A Story of the Lands

The vineyards of Irpinia are enriched by volcanic soil from historical eruptions, including Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei. This fertile land nurtures native grape varieties, allowing for the production of wines through traditional methods without chemical alterations. For over a decade, the elegant Bellaria labels feature the Lime tree, a 230-year-old symbol of the Roccabascerana community, located in the town's historic center.

High Quality Wines

Agricola Bellaria produces around 100,000 bottles annually, sourced exclusively from its 21 hectares of vineyards located in Paternopoli, Montemiletto, Candida, Montefusco, Prata PU, and Roccabascerana. Each bottle reflects the unique terroir and dedication to quality that defines the winery.

Winner of Several Awards

Bellaria wines consistently receive accolades from prestigious global competitions, including Decanter, the International Wine Challenge in London, the Los Angeles Wine Competition, and the Sakura Award in Japan. They also earn excellent reviews from respected publications such as Wine Enthusiast, Bibenda, Luca Maroni, and Gambero Rosso.

The summit is being prepared in a state-of-the-art vintner's shop. We can't wait to see them at work in the new headquarters... Here is finally the new headquarters, built with taste like the wines you produce.

Make time for this winery. Bellaria shows the exceptional quality of native Campania grapes. The quality of wine is only bettered by the attention and care given to guests by Gabriele and the team. We were able to enjoy a selection of vintages and grapes, accompanied by delicious food prepared on site. We chose the place at random, and it was the highlight of our trip. Don’t miss it!
