Wine, History & Culture of the Venditti Winery

Nestled between the majestic Matese and Taburno mountains, Antica Masseria Venditti boasts a rich winemaking heritage that dates back to 1595. Founded by the Venditti family in Castelvenere, this winery has become a custodian of ancient vines and the traditions of local winemakers. In the 1980s, Nicola, an oenologist, took the helm and shifted the focus towards organic practices, emphasizing the enhancement of native grape varieties.

The Season of the Grapes

The vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate, allowing for the cultivation of diverse grape varieties, including Falanghina, Greco, Coda di Volpe, Aglianico, and Barbera. In addition to grapes, the estate is home to cherry, chestnut, walnut, oak, and olive trees. The vineyard is meticulously managed using techniques such as green manure and winter pruning, resulting in low yields that produce ripe, healthy grapes. Hand harvesting takes place from mid-September to late October, ensuring quality in every bunch.

Combining Ancient Methods with Modern Technology

Antica Masseria Venditti is committed to organic cultivation, producing natural and healthy wines without chemicals. The winery has embraced modern technology in its cellars while maintaining traditional practices. Since 1968, the Venditti family has experimented with innovative methods on their vines, blending time-honored techniques with contemporary approaches to enhance the quality of their wines.

Even after a short notice everything was perfect and impeccable. Thank you for this wonderful experience. We will definitely come back to taste some of the excellent delicacies of Mrs. Enza.

My husband and I had the most wonderful tour and lunch when we visited in Oct 24. Andrea is the most hospitable guide and host. We loved learning about not only wine, but the history of the family and vinyard as well which goes back many hundreds of years. I loved seeing a family painting, used many years later as a wine label. The food was out of this world, much better than we had the evening before in a rather well known restaurant. Andreas' mother and sister cooked for us, and we ate more than we should while learning about tasting the wine. The grilled cheese on a lemon leaf and 4 milk cheese was my favourites but there were so many dishes to choose from. We didn't eat again all day. It was fragrant, local, simple, authentic and just delicious food. We went away feeling like we had sampled the real Italy and campania, and become part of the family for a few hours. I can't recommend a visit enough. Thank you Andrea and family.

I surprised my husband with this authentic family owned and operated winery in the Benevento area. The owner Nicola spent a few hours out of his day to tell us all about his family success story and give us a private tour with wine tasting. Truly a wonderful experience and fantastic organic wine. Thank you to his son Andrea for arranging this dream to happen. Sending the Venditti family best wishes for many more years of success! From Lora & Mauricio Toronto, Canada October 7th, 2023
