Their mission is to treat everyone that visits the farm as family , giving advice on places to visit and chatting about the magic of Antico Borgo di Sugame.
Trees Grown to support the Vines
The main vineyard of Antico Borgo di Sugame is approximately 28 years old, and the newer ones are six and seven years old. In 2005, another hectare was planted to extend the cultivated land. Maple trees are used to support the vines instead of poles and these rows are alternated with rows of olive trees.
The rows are set very far apart so that other products such as grains and vegetables can be cultivated between them.
These beautiful old vines are still producing grapes, which are very much a part of the harvest. The vineyards total nearly five hectares, and there are two hectares of olive trees and 28 hectares of woodland. The vineyards are south west facing at an altitude of 500 m. The soil is mainly sandy-lime with a small percentage of clay.
Different Wine Labels
The patriarch of the family, Lorenzo, cultivates the vines on the estate and produces organic Tuscan wines with love and passion. The wines produced on the estate are the Antico Borgo di Sugame Chianti Classico, the Antico Borgo di Sugame Chianti Classico Riserva, the Antico Borgo di Sugame IGT Rossi Toscana, the Antico Borgo di Sugame IGT Rosato Toscana and the Antico Borgo di Sugame Toscana Rosso IGT Merlot.
