Visit the Pioneer of Montefalco Sagrantino Winemaking
Nestled in the Scenic Hills of Umbria
With over fifty years of winemaking tradition, Benincasa Winery is situated in Capro, within the municipality of Bevagna in Italy's enchanting Umbria region. The vineyards thrive amidst the rolling hills of Bevagna, basking in abundant sunshine. This winery is located in the prestigious Montefalco winemaking area, renowned for producing the exceptional Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG wine.
A Legacy of Passion and Family
Founded in 1964 by Domenico Benincasa, the winery began with the cultivation of the Sagrantino grape. Over the years, the Benincasa family has nurtured this passion for winemaking. In 2000, the winery transitioned to Marco Alimenti, Domenico's grandson and the third generation to lead the estate. Marco's fondness for the vineyards began in childhood, working alongside his grandfather in the fields, fostering a deep connection to the land and its fruits.
Respecting Nature in Winemaking
Benincasa Winery is committed to sustainable practices, cultivating a diverse range of grapes, including high-quality Sagrantino, Merlot, and Sangiovese, as well as premium Grechetto, Trebbiano, and Toscano. Marco crafts a variety of flavorful red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines. In addition to wines, the winery produces exquisite extra virgin olive oil from three top-quality olive varieties: Frantoiano, Leccino, and Moraiolo. In 2009, Marco expanded the winery by merging with Tenuta Vincastro, located in Passignano Sul Trasimeno Province, covering 50 hectares of gently rolling hills, with 10 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of both white and red grapes.
