Boasting more than fifty years of winemaking history, the Benincasa Winery is located Capro, in the municipality of Bevagna in the Umbrian region of Italy. Childhood Memories in the Vines of Benincasa
With the beginning of the cultivation of Sagrantino grape, Domenico Banincasa established the Benincasa winery in 1964. Over the years, with great passion and love for winemaking business, the Benincasa family is managing the winery. In the 2000 harvest, the management of Benincasa was passed to Marco Alimenti, grandson of the Domenico. Marco is a member of the third generation. Even as a child, Marco’s love for vines and wines was outstanding. He used to work with his grandfather in the fields during his childhood.
Benincasa Winery Treats the Wines with Great Respect to Mother Nature
With full respect of the territory, Benincasa grows a broad range of grapes, which includes high-quality Sagrantino, Merlot, and Sangiovese, along with top-class Grechetto, Trebbiano, and Toscano. Marco produces many flavorful and aromatic red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines. Besides wines, Benincasa also delivers delicious extra virgin olive oil from their three top-quality olive varieties, including Frantoiano, Leccino, and Moraiolo. Surprisingly, in 2009, Marco merged the Benincasa Winery with Tenuta Vincastro, an estate located in the Passignano Sul Trasimeno Province. They cover an area of 50 hectares along the gentle hills with 10 hectares of vineyards that are dedicated for the cultivation of white and red grapes.
