SAIO Assisi

My boyfriend and I visited Saio Assisi after booking a tasting package on Smartbox. The lady explained the history of the cellar and the characteristics of the products with great passion and was always attentive and very friendly. Everything was delicious and so we decided to buy some products to bring a little piece of Assisi home. Afterwards we also took a walk in the estate's vineyard, which allowed us to enjoy the view and let our thoughts go. Highly recommended!

I booked a picnic at this winery. High-quality products are served. Friendly and attentive staff. Nestled in the Assisi countryside, with stunning views. Surrounded by peace and nature. Notes: The services are not very close to the picnic area (approx. 220 m);

Excellent experience and highly recommended. The host, Agnese was very welcoming and nice, explaining all about the wines and their local produce. The vineyards and views are amazing, would definitely recommend Saio to anyone visiting Perugia and Assisi.

We had a lovely experience at SAIO, opting for the wine tasting and sunset picnic. Agnese was a wonderful host. The wine was delicious and very reasonably priced, as too was the picnic. Being able to watch the sun bounce off the buildings of Assisi as it set was magical. A very unique experience that I’d highly recommend.

Without a doubt one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. Simple, delicate and perfect combinations of wines and sausages, preceded by a calm walk in the vineyards.

Went here with family. We got the pack with all the wines and lunch and it was absolutely delicious. They pair the wines with local foods that are amazing and the wines themselves are really good too. If you're a foodie, you'll definitely want to come here

Nice wine tasting and picnic (especially for the price). Staff speak fantastic English and are very friendly. We walked from Assisi train station - Google doesn't show the route, but you can see the roads on Maps. We did have to ford a small river which had appeared due to the intense rain (northern Italy had flooded the week before we visited), but that just added to the fun! Picnic was based in a sheltered veranda amidst the vines, which was nice, but we'd recommend the staff to provide blankets as an option to provide for a more personal picnic

My boyfriend and I went there because he had booked the wine tasting and picnic for the anniversary. It was a beautiful surprise! Exceptional place, the girl who accompanied us in the tasting was very nice, kind, helpful and knowledgeable! Needless to say, the wines were excellent. The best part was definitely the picnic with a view of Assisi, unforgettable!

We took part in their grape harvest event with the ancient pressing of the grapes. It was very well organised and at the end there was a picnic under a terrace in a large garden. The platter of cold cuts, porchetta and cheeses was plentiful and of good quality. Excellent wines. We had a great time. The place is worth the visit: the view of Assisi and the Basilica from the vineyard is beautiful.

It was a great pleasure to visit this winery. I walked (20 minutes) from Assisi to get here. I took a guided tour and tasted the excellent wines from the place. Afterwards, I was able to see a small part of the vineyard and take beautiful photos of the place!! I loved the experience!! The staff was very helpful! I recommend it!! Thank you!!

This was my first experience of its kind, and I must say it more than met my expectations. I booked the luxury picnic at the vineyard with the very friendly owner over the phone. It began promptly at 11:00 with a brief explanation of the vineyard route. Armed with a small map explaining the different types of grapes, we explored the rows of the "spectacle" independently. Grape tasting is mandatory and allowed, even if a little early (obviously only the white grapes, as the black grapes are too early and still quite unripe). We then headed to the Veranda located right at the foot of Assisi, from where you can admire Assisi and the Basilica of St. Francis in all their imposing splendor. Here, we were served an excellent platter of cold cuts, porchetta and cheeses, bread, a savory tart (I forget the name), and sweets, all accompanied by a good bottle of their wine (we could choose any bottle of their production to our liking). They gave us complete freedom and without any schedule, allowing us to stroll through the vineyards again and then return to their shop where we bought a few bottles of their wine. Absolutely recommended.
