Las Virtudes Winery – Located in the Villena Region of Alicante
Amongst beautiful views of the landscape, Las Virtudes Winery is located in the Villena region of Alicante, Spain. The winery is a cluster of various other wineries brought together to produce the highest quality wines, expressing the heritage of the city. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the winery property offers an excellent wine tourism experience for visitors from all over the world.
In 1961, 129 local winemakers and small wineries joined forces and formed the copperative of Bodega Las Virtudes.
Local Alicante winemakers and small wineries joined forces and formed Bodega Las Virtudes in 1961. Later in 1972, new oak barrels were brought in the wine cellar, and a small bottling plant was established. In the 90s, under the management of José Francisco Torró and Juan Huerta, many advanced technologies were introduced, respecting the traditional methods of wine production. Today, the cellar of Las Virtudes Winery is equipped with stainless steel tanks and about 400 oak barrels, enhancing the quality of the wines with high quality aging facilities.
Wineries Focus on Cultivating Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Macabeo
On the prestigious land of Villena, the group of grape growers produces a wide range of vareties. This includes high-quality Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Macabeo. They also cultivate juicy Merlot, Merseguera Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Moscatel, all distributed among the territory of DO Alicante. In respect of the Villena region, the group has named its famous wines – the Treasury of Villena and the Vinalopó. They deliver top-class red and white wines, along with delicious rosé and dessert wines.
Las Virtudes Winery is also a certified producer of extra virgin olive oil with a production of 300,000 liters of oil every year.
