Bodegas Comenge is an organic winery with superb surroundings and best views of the Ribera del Duero and the castles of Peñafiel and Curiel in a privileged environment. The winery was established in 1999, when Jaime Comenge started working on his desire to make wine. He believed that the vineyard is the fundamental pillar in the winemaking process from the start and focused a lot in it. The vineyards in which they grow the grapes are 100% organic and certified as such.
The 32 hectares of vineyards of Bodegas Comenge are mostly located on the hills of Curiel and Pesquera de Duero, between the altitudes of 780 and 880 meters, constituting the best location for the vineyard, due to its good capacity to retain the low soil moisture. The Tempranillo grapes are cultivated the most with almost 16 hectares of land dedicated to it. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha and Albillo are the other grape varieties grown in the vineyards. The work put on the vineyard leads to some of the best grapes which are converted into red white and rose wines. Bodegas Comenge wines are some of the best wines and it is proven by the fact that their wines have won multiple awards in competitions.
A visit to the winery is an amazing experience. They are willing to share all their secrets to producing organic wines and you will also get to taste a few of them. Doesn’t it sound exciting?
