The Story of the beginning of Bodegas Viyuela

The Viyuela family decided to give a strong boost to its winemaking activity, dating back to the early nineteenth century, by building a modern winery in their hometown, Boada de Roa. In this place, already their ancestors elaborated wine in a traditional way the prestigious frame of the DO  Ribera del Duero. Each wine highlights not only the grape variety, climate, clay, and calcareous soils, also a passion for wine. They take care of every detail throughout the process to offer the best quality in our wines, bringing to the consumer red wines with complexity, which invites them to drink and enjoy.

Vines for Making Premium Wines

The best-oriented plots and those in which the grape reaches an excellent maturation are dedicated to the vineyard. The key factor is the soil, which offers a composition and conditions that are difficult to match in the Ribera del Duero.

The region suffers from long winters and extreme temperatures in the summer, and in addition is caught in long periods of drought, which gives to the plants the needed water stress to get grapes with a concentration of tannins, sugar, color, and full maturation. This is decisive for the quality of the final product.

All the vineyards are Tempranillo, the queen grape of the area, which is expressed in its fullness in the Ribera del Duero and offers aromas of red and black fruits, with sweet and silky tannin. The Tinta Fina variety assimilates excellently the long periods of aging necessary for high-quality wines

***A VERY GOOD WINE***, without a doubt it replaces all the Ribera del Duero wines that I have tried. Thanks to the efforts of this family!
