A family-owned winery with a winemaking legacy spanning five generations has much to share about their high-quality, traditional wines.

Bodega Muelas: A Commitment to Underground Winemaking

Bodega Muelas is renowned for its unique underground winery and cellar. Here, wines are crafted using traditional Rueda grape varieties, including Tempranillo and Verdejo. The aging process takes place in a variety of barrels—American Oak, Spanish Oak, French Oak, and Acacia—each contributing distinct aromas and finesse while preserving the wines' natural flavors.

A Rich History of Winemaking

The roots of Bodega Muelas trace back to 1886, when the family first began winemaking in this location. After a brief hiatus in the 1960s, the fourth generation revived the winery in 1989, continuing the family tradition of crafting wines with care and dedication. The vineyards are situated on a slope beside the Duero River, providing an ideal environment for grape cultivation.

Wine Jewels: A Celebration of Craftsmanship

At Bodega Muelas, the harvest is a cherished event, marked by a deep respect for the winemaking process. The winery takes pride in creating what they call "wine jewels," inspired by the grapes, vines, earth, and sun. These unique creations reflect the essence of winemaking and the passion that drives the family to produce exceptional wines.

Make sure to stop by when you´re around Tordesillas. Beside great wines which have been awarded multiple times, they also offer an impressive tour through their wine cellar several meters below the ground with a tasting afterwards. The staff or better said the family which runs the winery is very kind and authentic.

It's worth a visit. An incredible place. Helena, a descendant of the founders, is excellent at presenting the winery and, most importantly, the wines are great!

Despite it being the first of two busy days bottling the new harvest, Reyas (forgive me if I have spelled this incorrectly) gave us a great tasting hour with excellent information. Fantastic wine and great surprising wine products for gifts. Wonderful to think that it is nearly 140 years since Reya's great grandparents first started making wine and the passion in the family still runs so deep. We shall return for a full tour when they're not so busy! Thoroughly recommended.

A winery that exudes tradition and authenticity. The tasting is recommended for anyone who wants to have fun and learn. The guide, Reyes, a very nice and friendly host. Very good products at competitive prices. The white wine Verdejo-Moscatel LagartoLapeña stands out. A legendary wine where the story of a terrible plague of voracious lizards hundreds of years ago merged with the roots of the vine of these lands. The result is a unique wine, accessible only to those who know it.

A 100% recommended visit. We included the tasting in the visit and it was a great success. Helena and Tatiana explained everything to us in a phenomenal way. The whole process is manual. They only produce a small amount but the wines they get are very good. It is very curious to see how the wine cellar is housed in the underground caves under the house.

Highly recommended. Cozy, you feel the warmth of a small winery but with a lot of work. Amazing that they have 14 preparations for such a small winery and production. A clear example of the love of Helena and her team for their work. I hope to follow the newsletter and see all the news when we come back.
