Bodegas Tobia – a winery located in La Rioja Alta

Bodegas Tobia is located in Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón in La Rioja Alta – a medieval town famed by its river, near Haro and halfway between Logroño and Vitoria.

Following the footsteps of his ancestors, the owner is producing luscious wines under the D.O.Ca. Rioja
After completing his training as an oenologist in 1994, Óscar Tobía dreamt about establishing his own winery. Later in 2004, he, along with Ana Castelló, built Bodegas Tobía. The grandparents of Óscar were also winemakers San Asensio, near Las Cuevas. Today, following the footsteps of his ancestors, the owner is producing luscious wines under the D.O.Ca. Rioja status. The kinds of wines the estate produces are delicious red and white wines, in combination with high-quality rose wines. In 2010, the owner shifted the management to a new winery in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, also in La Rioja Alta. With a great passion for quality, the latest estate is equipped with modern machinery to enhance the texture, aromas, and taste of wines.

Some of the main grape varieties are Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Viura, and Maturana Tinta,

At Bodegas Tobia, the production staff cultivates a vast array of grapes. It includes top-class Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Viura, and Maturana Tinta, along with fruity Maturana Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco, Malvasia. The vineyards enjoy appropriate microclimate throughout the year and suitable soils and terroirs for the cultivation of vines.

With the use of eco-friendly methods, both innovative and traditional, the winery produces its high-quality wines.

The guests are allowed to explore the charms of the cellar, where the actual wine is made. By using eco-friendly methods, both innovative and traditional, the team obtains the highest quality and aromatic extractions from grapes. The fermentation is carried out in large stainless steel tanks, followed by aging and refining in wooden oak barrels. All the wines express the essence of wood and the origin they are made from.
