Borgogno Rivata: A Modern Winery with Tradition
Borgogno Rivata is a young winery that represents the rich terroir of Langhe and Roero while embracing innovative practices. With a focus on small-scale production, this winery stands out for its commitment to quality over quantity.
A Family Legacy in Winemaking
Founded in 2010 by brothers-in-law Alberto and Massimo, Borgogno Rivata combines their expertise and passion for viticulture. Their vineyards span 40 hectares in La Morra, with five hectares dedicated to unique grape varieties. The remaining land is used for growing cereals and wheat, while orchards of pears, apples, hazelnuts, and plums flourish across five hectares. This winery blends traditional methods with cutting-edge technology, all while prioritizing sustainable practices.
The Donkeys Paradise: A Geological Marvel
Situated on the Guarene hill, the estate features a remarkable geological formation known as Paradis der Some, or "donkeys paradise." This unique cleft runs through the hill, providing an exceptional environment for grape cultivation. Borgogno Rivata aims to produce healthy, ripe grapes with outstanding organoleptic qualities. In the cellar, they vinify Barolo, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera into exquisite red wines, while Favorita and Arneis are crafted into harmonious white wines. Additionally, they create a distinctive Pear Cider called Sidrè, known for its fizzy and low-alcohol characteristics. For wine lovers seeking an unconventional experience, a visit to Borgogno Rivata offers a chance to learn about their winemaking process and sample their exceptional wines.
