Experience the great hospitality at Gattavecchi winery
The Gattavecchi is a historical company based in Toscano’s Montepulciano that is in the wine business for four generations. Valente Gattavecchi rebuilt the winery in the late 1940s, along with his mother, Sidonia. His grandfather, Vincenzo, started the company, but it was interrupted due to the bombings of 1944.
In 1958, the family purchased the Simoneschi-Baroncelli winery belonging to the Served Fathers. Since then, the winery is in a perfect and unique environment.
The main qualities of their team are professionalism and hospitality that is loved by its customers
Do not miss a tour of the historic cellar
The region has an exceptional terroir. The soil, microclimate, rainfall, etc. are perfect for the cultivation of vines. The vineyards are present in the farms at Le Caggiole, Cervognano, and Argiano. Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile are the main grape varieties growing here. The workers handpick the best grapes out of the produce which are used to make their noble, high-quality Montepulciano DOCG wines. Vinification takes place in their historic cellar.
Enjoy a tasting with a fantastic view
The cellar has underground rooms and caves, next to the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi, where the wines age for two years before being released and exported. On the upper floor of the cellar is the refractory room and terrace that offers panoramic views of the environment. This is where the wine and olive oil tasting take place paired with Lilian’s cuisine made from local produce. Lillian opened the Osteria La Cucina at the Gattavechi cellar and is famous for the flavorful Tuscan cuisine that he makes out of his passion and creativity.
