Castello Selvole, a Dream Came True with the Beginning of the Winery
Castello Selvole is a dream realized of a husband and wife duo, Guido Busetto and Nobuko Hashimoto. Winemaking was a great passion of theirs for quite a long time and after 25 years of careers in journalism, they purchased this winery in the majestic hills of Chianti Classico. Castello di Selvole Winery is surrounded by forests, vineyards, and expansive olive groves. There are also stretches of country roads which are protected by the local authorities for their historical value and known for hosting the annual Eroica event, a cycle race in the past.
Wines Produced in Famous Chianti Classico
Selvole is one of the oldest wineries in the area and produces approximately 200,000 bottles every year. Their vineyards are mostly located in the small valley between Selvole and Brolio where the Chianti Classico was born 300 years ago. The winery owns 40 hectares of vineyard where they cultivate, Sangiovese and Canaiolo grape varieties as well as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The primary wines produced here are Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva, Gran Selezione Ponte Rosso, IGT Merlot di Toscana, IGT Cabernet Franc di Toscana, IGT Cabernet Sauvignon di Toscana, IGT Frescolaia, IGT Barullo, and Vin Santo di Chianti Classico.
