A Historic Winery in Tuscany's Chianti Classico Region
Castello di Selvole is one of Tuscany's oldest wineries, producing approximately 80,000 bottles of wine each year. Nestled in the picturesque valley between Selvole and Brolio, this winery is situated in the heart of the region where Chianti Classico originated over 300 years ago.
Vineyard and Grape Varieties
The estate spans 16 hectares, with half of the vineyards recently planted at high density. Here, you will find a selection of grape varieties including Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This careful cultivation reflects the winery's commitment to quality and tradition.
Owners with a Passion for Wine
In 1999, Guido and Nobuko Busetto acquired Castello di Selvole. Both have a strong background in winemaking, having studied at the Enology Institute of Bordeaux University. Their passion for quality wine was ignited during their time in France, where Guido worked as a correspondent for the Italian economic daily, Il Sole 24 Ore.
A Natural Transition to Winemaking
After 25 years in journalism, the couple decided to transition into the world of winemaking. Their extensive knowledge and experience in the industry have allowed them to create exceptional wines that reflect the rich heritage of the Chianti Classico region.
