Rich History Since the 16th Century

Castello Sonnino is a beautifully preserved winery nestled in the picturesque Chianti Hills, just 20 kilometers from Florence. This historic estate features a stunning 16th-century palace and an impressive tower, owned by Baron and Baroness de Renzis Sonnino.

Exceptional Wines from Tuscany

As one of the leading producers in the Chianti Montespertoli area, Castello Sonnino has been crafting wine and extra virgin olive oil for over 200 years. The Sonnino family is renowned for creating wines with distinctive character, rooted in a profound understanding of the land and a commitment to innovation.

Today, Baron Alessandro de Renzis Sonnino leads the winemaking team, skillfully balancing tradition with modern techniques to produce some of Tuscany's most intriguing wines.

Quality Wines from Unique Terroir

All wines from Castello Sonnino are made exclusively from grapes grown in their own vineyards, which span over 40 hectares. The unique terroir of the region contributes to the distinctiveness of each wine. The winery's historic cellars, dating back to the 17th century, are located within the castle and are where the wines are aged in wooden barrels and barriques. Notable wines from the estate include San Leone IGT Toscana Merlot, Cantinino IGT Toscano Sangiovese, Castello di Montespertoli Chianti DOCG Riserva, Leone Rosso IGT Toscano Rosso, and Chianti Montespertoli DOCG Sonnino.

Magical place that smells of history. We visited the cellars and had an excellent tasting of both wine and food. We were accompanied with professionalism and love. Vin Santo is absolutely not to be missed!!!

We took the guided tour, choosing among others the Boscolo bouquet that had been given to us. A beautiful experience of tastes, smells and flavours in this fascinating estate with ancestral sensations. Special thanks to Sara, who acted as a guide to discover the winery and the winery, as well as a valuable advisor in the tasting of the wines accompanied by the appropriate km 0 products such as sausages, cheeses and desserts. It was impossible to leave without the vinsanto that made us rediscover a flavour that we thought was extinct. The wines we tasted were excellent, in fact we took some home. Thank you all and have a good stay.

Last Saturday, taking advantage of a Smartbox we received as a gift, we chose this magnificent location where we tasted excellent wines accompanied by their own cured meats and cheeses, not to mention the vinsanto, amazing. The lady who followed us in this experience was very kind, as was the girl who guided us in the visit to the historic cellar and vinsantaia and told us about the past and present of this beautiful residence. We will definitely return next summer for an encore. From our point of view, a highly recommended experience.

Visited on October 26 via smartbox. A beautiful experience. You can really breathe an air of history and tradition. The vinsantaia is beautiful, the old cellar is extraordinary, fascinating, its appearance tells a lot about the history of the place. Good tasting, excellent wines and products offered, being two of us we were able to taste six wines sharing the glasses; a round of applause for the vinsanto. I thank Sara who accompanied us, she was professional and very nice.
