In 1997, Cathy Marshall established the Barefoot Wine Company, becoming one of the first boutique micro-wineries in the Western Cape. With a bold vision, Cathy transformed traditional winemaking by adopting a low-tech, hands-on approach that laid the groundwork for the garagiste movement.

From its humble beginnings, where friends and family gathered barefoot to press grapes during harvest, the winery has grown into a beloved institution, captivating wine enthusiasts around the globe.

In 2007, Cathy decided to source all grapes from the cool climate of Elgin, crafting both red and white wines that showcase fresh, bright, and aromatic profiles. Each bottle reflects her passion for winemaking, transporting you to the stunning vineyards of Elgin, where nature and craftsmanship come together to create exceptional wines.
