Ken Forrester Wines - Winery

Perched on the charming slopes, Ken Forrester is an ancient winery situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, a renowned wine region in South Africa. Over 25 years, the winery has received various national and international recognitions, along with hundreds of awards and accolades. Some of the wines delivered by Ken Forrester include delicious red, white, and rose wines, combined with top-quality dessert and sparkling wines.

Centuries-Old Winery Dating Back to 1689

Many families of winemakers came and lived in the 17th-century wine house. In 1694, Frederick Botha planted his first wines and established the winery building the same year. Later in 1833, the Scholtz family took over the estate and changed its name to Scholtzenhof. They cultivated grapes here for almost 100 years. For several years, the property remained vacant until 1993 when a young couple, Ken and Teresa, bought the property in an auction. A massive restoration took place both in the vineyards and winery. Ken and Teresa had their first vintage in 1994 under the Ken Forrester label.

Unique Territory Near the False Bay Coastline

The rows of vines enjoy the maritime atmosphere of Stellenbosch. Here, some of the best grapes are grown with sustainable viticulture practices. It includes rich-quality Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, and Merlot. Some vineyard plots are located in Helderberg, where fruity Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache thrive, bordering the coastal edge of Stellenbosch.
