A very pleasant experience. It was a shame I didn't get to enjoy the farm more.

Such a sweet spot. We’ve stayed a few times and it’s always special! The hotel has so many great things for kids to do in all seasons.

The sweetest end of the week is 2025. Absolute peace and serenity. So each collaborator joins the family. So a smile is the definition of kindness that is not included in the price. Much effort is very little, when our hearts are worn out by the Chao do Rio in the rearview mirror of the car… saudades!

Imagine a place where each detail would be well thought out, preserved, a team with a 1000 note attention. A place that from the first time we counted our words, we provide all the orientations, alignments and, well - an expectation. Much obliged to everyone and that the entire family of Chão do Rio prospers in all its aspects!

Just the best ever place to a full nature experience, with all and necessary home little houses atmosphere. Just a Dream! No words could explain the magical natural swimming pool also sunset views. Local products and a fresh flavours from Portugal tradicional food and sweets. TRUELLY RECOMEND! We will be back as soon as possible!

We found it very relaxing, a true oasis of calm. The breakfast basket was very generous, and the fresh bread was especially delicious. Eco-friendliness is clearly a priority here.

A wonderful experience at Casa Cumeada. Exceptional service, super friendly and attentive. The children loved feeding the animals, swimming in the pool, and exploring the fields around the hotel.

We loved our stay at Chão do Rio with our three kids. Wonderful communication before & during our stay. The place feels truly authentic, and the peaceful atmosphere of rural life allows you to relax deeply and put things into perspective. Even our usually energetic kids were so calm and happy just playing outside, completely immersed in nature. We truly appreciated the concept of a healthy, eco-conscious stay — it felt both refreshing and inspiring. Absolutely delicious breakfast with oven bread! A few small remarks: •The house can feel a bit chilly if the weather outside isn’t very warm. •We missed having a small sports area with mats for meditation, yoga, or simple workouts. •It’s not really possible to organize bike tours, as the available bikes are quite old and there aren’t dedicated bike paths nearby, especially for children. A special thank you to Louisa, who was incredibly kind to our kids — they still talk about her and can’t forget her warmth and friendliness.

I loved my stay and the service. The homemade pumpkin jam was extraordinary, the eggs were free-range, and the cheese was mouthwatering. I loved the houses, the breakfast with everything you could want and more. A very welcoming and friendly place. I loved it and will certainly return.

This place is truly special and feels like a poetic experience in Portugal! Out of the 12+ places we stayed, this is one of our favorites. Everything was perfect! When I made the reservation, I mentioned we’d be celebrating our wedding anniversary. The Chão do Rio surprised us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from its garden. It was so thoughtful and made our trip unforgettable. This place is worth every penny! What I loved most: - The photos reveal what the place is like! - The staff are incredibly kind, polite, and attentive. - The cleanliness is spotless. - The breakfast basket with local treats is a must-try and such a special experience in Serra da Estrela. - The bed and pillows are super comfy. - The functionality of everything! Everything was very well thought out - The soaps made from natural materials - I loved all the local products and this was also a big plus I would like to leave my big thanks to this magical place and all staff! All the women who run this place are amazing!

Very comfortable and unique experience. Staff is super friendly. You get bread each day at 5.30 PM and they refill all the breakfast items each day. It is a big basket with all sorts of products you can think of. Most local products, including cheese, pumpkin compote, eggs, the best milk you can think of. The house is super silent. It is like a farm with very preserved surroundings and top notch decoration. Amazing places to stay. One of the best host services I ever had.

An absolutely charming and peaceful place, surrounded by nature, and well-equipped for families. The premises are impeccably clean, and the breakfast items are delicious. There's even a vegetable garden where you can pick your own produce, and you can also collect eggs from the henhouse.

We spent four nights at the accommodation with our two children. The holiday homes are modern and clean. The breakfast basket was generously filled each morning, even including cookies and cake. The staff was very welcoming. There were free bicycles of all sizes and animals to feed (donkeys, sheep, and chickens). There was also a playground for younger children. The only drawback, in our opinion, was its somewhat remote location – the drive to Aveiro took about 1.5 hours, and to the nature reserve about 45 minutes. The natural pool with frogs was lovely to look at, but unfortunately, it wasn't very inviting for swimming. All in all, a highly recommended accommodation; we had a wonderful time.

My partner, our dog Trufo, and I stayed for two nights to celebrate my birthday. It was a fantastic choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and always available to help and answer any questions. We stayed in Casa Loba, which was very comfortable and clean. We had a wonderful night's sleep. The breakfast they provide is very complete and features high-quality products. Around 5 pm, they bring you a freshly baked, warm bread roll—delicious! The biological pool is a novel experience; swimming among water lilies and frogs is wonderful. They have bicycles available for guests to use free of charge. There's a large area to walk around and see the animals they have: chickens, a donkey, and two goats that you can feed. There's also a children's playground and a barbecue area. I highly recommend it if you want to relax and enjoy the tranquility of a rural setting.

Wonderful experience. If you need to unplug, this is the place.

Three of us—two adults and a two-and-a-half-year-old girl—stayed in one of the cottages. It was a peaceful and well-equipped place. The cottage had all the necessary amenities, and despite the heat during those days in July 2019, it maintained a pleasant temperature. The service was exceptional from the very first moment, with special mention to Paula and Sofia. A unique place, full of character and well-maintained. I hope to return someday. 100% recommended.

A fantastic place for those of us who love rural tourism. Beautiful, clean houses surrounding a lovely natural pool. Nature is everywhere, and the Serra da Estrela area is simply stunning. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there a little over three years ago. We can't wait to go back!
