Family Winery in Melgaco

Quinta de Soalheiro has deep roots in the Melgaco region, where Alvarinho grapes have thrived for generations. In 1974, João António Cerdeira, along with his parents, António Esteves Ferreira and Maria Cerdeira, made a bold decision to plant a full vineyard of Alvarinho, breaking from the traditional practice of intercropping with grains. This pioneering spirit has since defined our family's commitment to advancing Alvarinho cultivation in Melgaço.

Organic Farming at Soalheiro

Today, the winery is run by the third generation of the Cerdeira family: siblings Maria João and António Luís, alongside their mother, Maria Palmira Cerdeira. António Luís, an oenology graduate, has dedicated his life to mastering the Alvarinho grape. Meanwhile, Maria João, a veterinarian, has successfully implemented organic farming practices in our vineyards. Our commitment to innovation also extends to the local community, where we focus on sustainable development, wine tourism, and even herbal tea production.

Tivemos or prazer de visitar adega Soalheiro, ea experiência foi simplesmente inesquecível! A Nossa guia, Margarida, foi extremamente simpática e atenciosa, respondendo amavelmente a todas as nossas perguntas. The espaço é elegante and de extremo de bom gosto que combina perfect com a colhedora atmosphere. A view of the edifício é spectacular, oferecendo a paisagem de tirar or fôlego da region. A tasting of vinhos foi deliciosa and an excellent opportunity to appreciate a quality of vinhos with aqui products. Sem dúvida, recommend this visit a qualquer pessoa que aprecie vinhos, infusões/chás e, claro, a beleza da region de Monção e Melgaço.

Very beautiful farm and one of the first in the Melgaço area. We visited and tasted wines with Mrs. Indra, who is extremely friendly and professional, showing a lot of knowledge and teaching skills. All the wines we tasted were excellent, from different “Terroirs” and altitudes within the Alvarinho area. Sensational Cota 27 wine. It is worth getting to know and tasting the excellent wines from Soalheiro, as well as their cheeses and sausages made on one of their properties, all of which are excellent!

Overall a lovely and informative winery and vineyard experience. The Premium Tour offered a wide range of traditional and experimental alvarinhos, as well as local organic herbal teas, cheeses, honey, and cured meats. Our guide, Indra, spoke excellent English and was very accommodating. Views of the Minho river valley from the tasting room were breathtaking.
