A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Burgundy's Leynes Commune
History of Château Des Correaux
Château Des Correaux, a charming family estate, was established in 1803 in the picturesque commune of Leynes, southern Burgundy. Built in the elegant style of a Louis XIV château, it has been lovingly maintained by the Bernard family for seven generations. Today, Jean Bernard, the current steward, produces wines exclusively from his own vineyards, which showcase the rich diversity of Leynes' Climats. The estate is known for its exceptional Saint-Véran, Bourgogne, and Beaujolais Villages wines.
Exceptional Wines from a Unique Terroir
Situated at the crossroads of Beaujolais and Mâconnais, Château Des Correaux benefits from a unique geographical location. The estate spans approximately twenty hectares, with 19 hectares dedicated to white wine and 1 hectare to red wine. This diverse terroir allows for the production of high-quality white, rosé, and red wines, reflecting the distinct characteristics of southern Burgundy and northern Beaujolais.
Commitment to Sustainable Viticulture
Germain Bernard is dedicated to sustainable viticulture, practicing reasoned farming methods. This includes maintaining grass cover between vine rows, applying treatments only when necessary, and plowing the soil to promote healthy vine growth. Such practices require careful monitoring of the vines' life cycles and responsiveness to weather conditions. By fostering ecological balance, Germain allows nature to play a role in disease management. The grassing of vine rows not only prevents soil erosion but also enhances irrigation and provides essential trace elements for grape development.
