Experience Sustainable Winemaking in the Heart of France
A Prime Location for Exceptional Wines
Château Maris is nestled in the picturesque Cru La Livinière, making it the first European estate to achieve B Corp certification. For over 20 years, this winery has championed sustainable viticulture, reconnecting people with nature and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Spanning 45 hectares, Château Maris features diverse plots on the hillside above La Livinière. The terroir, characterized by gentle slopes and a sun-drenched south-facing orientation, consists of ancient schist, sandstone, quartz, marble, and limestone. This unique soil, rich in sand, clay, and pebbles, forms ideal terraces for grape growing. The Mediterranean sun, combined with the refreshing winds from the Pyrenees, creates a distinctive climate that imparts a unique character to the wines of Château Maris.
Crafting Wines with Integrity
Château Maris stands out for its innovative winemaking techniques. Utilizing indigenous yeast, the winery employs custom-made wooden, thick concrete, and egg-shaped vats, avoiding electrically conductive materials. The signature ovoid vats, inspired by Roman dolia, promote natural energy flow and convection currents. This method allows the fine lees to resuspend, resulting in light, vibrant wines. Built entirely from biodegradable materials, the winery reflects its commitment to producing high-quality wines while respecting the environment.
