Nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees, Domaine La Louvière offers a unique wine experience in the Malepère region.
Domaine La Louvière is located at the foot of the majestic Pyrenees, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the historic fortress town of Carcassonne in the Malepère region. This area is characterized by a unique microclimate, where the warm Mediterranean breeze meets the cooler influences of the Atlantic and the mountains, creating ideal conditions for grape ripening.
The terroir here is known for its stony soil, aptly named Malepère, which translates to "bad stone." However, at Domaine La Louvière, we view this as an advantage. The large stones absorb the sun's heat during the day and protect the vines from the cooler evening temperatures, contributing to the quality of our wines.
Since 1992, Klaus Grohe and his family have been dedicated to crafting exceptional wines at Domaine La Louvière. This family-run winery is now a collaborative effort with Klaus and his four sons, who share a passion for winemaking.
Our Wines
At Domaine La Louvière, we produce a range of sought-after wines from the Languedoc region, including fruity single-varietal red, white, and rosé IPG Pays d’Oc wines, as well as fine AOP Malepère reds. For special occasions, we also offer AOP Blanquette de Limoux and AOP Crémant de Limoux sparkling wines.
We are committed to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility, employing strict organic methods to ensure the highest quality organic AOP Malepère and IPG Pays d'Oc wines.
A Sustainable Approach
All our wines are certified organic (AB certification), reflecting our commitment to natural practices. We avoid chemical fertilizers and pesticides, opting instead for natural remedies that enhance soil health and promote biodiversity. Our onsite worm farm and insect hotels, along with the use of Effective Microorganisms (EM), help maintain a balanced ecosystem in our vineyards.
