The Family-Owned Winery in Taurasi

The Lonardo family has deep roots in Taurasi, having cultivated the land and engaged in agribusiness since the late 18th century. With a passion for winemaking, they established Contrade di Taurasi in 1998, focusing on quality over quantity. Their philosophy is built on strong values, combining traditional vine-growing techniques with modern innovations in the cellar. The family personally manages their 5-hectare estate, overseeing every step from vine cultivation to wine production, bottling, and sales.

Commitment to Quality

Situated on volcanic soil with a southern exposure, the vineyard prioritizes high-quality production, yielding no more than fifty quintals per hectare. The family adheres to four guiding principles in their winemaking process: using grapes from their own vineyard, experimenting with new agronomic and oenological techniques alongside traditional methods, optimizing winemaking procedures for value, and utilizing indigenous yeasts to enhance the unique characteristics of their wines.

Signature Wines of Contrade di Taurasi

Contrade di Taurasi specializes in four distinct wines: Grecomusc, a robust white; Aglianico, known for its fresh and fruity profile; Taurasi, which is harmonious and aristocratic; and Taurasi Riserva, a vintage selection. Located at approximately 400 meters above sea level, the vineyard benefits from a significant temperature variation between day and night, promoting the development of aromatic grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested using traditional methods, ensuring quality that has garnered awards and recognition worldwide.

An excellent wine (I tried and bought both Taurasi tinto annata 2016 and Grecomusc Bianco). The visit to the property and meeting with the friendly and knowledgeable owners/producers was a great experience. I was even allowed to walk in the plantation and enjoy some delicious fresh grapes directly from the organic vines!! A very commendable experience, a great vino!!!

Talking about a wine is not always easy if you are not an expert in the sector. Upon returning from the Lonardo Cellars I understood that it is not necessary to spend ourselves in complicated searches for who knows what flavors and aromas because inexperience could lead us not to do justice to the "nectar of the gods". Visit this delightful town that is Taurasi and let the Lonardos accompany you with their affability, friendliness and kindness on a tasting journey that you will not easily forget. When you return and they ask you about Taurasi or Grecomusc', don't let them find you without an adequate supply and, as mentioned, don't tell them...let the glass do the talking.

Extraordinary wine, the passion that the owners have for their business emerges in every sip. Friendly, competent and very nice, they accompany you in the tasting, immersing you in a mystical world. Very good and very kind. Advise. And when you go away, you can't help but take a case of Grecomusc with you to relive the same atmosphere at home. Optimal
