The Largest Winery in Hungary's Villány Region
Welcome to Csányi Pincészet Winery
Csányi Pincészet, located in the picturesque Ady fasor of the Villány region, stands as the largest winery in this renowned Hungarian wine area. With vineyards situated in the finest 'crus' of Villány, the winery is dedicated to producing grapes of exceptional quality, ensuring a remarkable wine experience.
A Legacy of Commitment to Winemaking
Founded by the esteemed viticulturist Zsigmond Teleki in 1881, Csányi Pincészet carries forward a legacy rooted in dedication. Teleki believed that “fine wines cannot be made without commitment,” a philosophy that continues to guide the winery today. After a comprehensive renovation, Csányi Pincészet successfully blends traditional winemaking practices with modern technology, resulting in wines that reflect both heritage and innovation.
The Unique Terroir of Villány
The vineyards of Csányi Pincészet thrive at the same geographical altitude as the northern Bordeaux wine regions, contributing to the production of rich, full-bodied wines. This unique terroir enhances the character of their wines, making them a true representation of the Villány region.
Famous Vineyards and Grape Varieties
Among the prized vineyards is the legendary Kopár, along with other exceptional sites like Ördögárok, Csillagvölgy, and Jammertal. The winery cultivates a variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Merlot, Kékfrankos, Olasz Rizling, Hárslevelű, and Petit Verdot. Only the finest grapes are selected for winemaking, and all wines are produced under the DHC label, encompassing red, white, rosé, and sparkling varieties. The estate has expanded from 370 hectares to 500 hectares by 2020, further enhancing its capacity to produce outstanding wines.
