French-Style Burgundy Wines Crafted in Istria At Domaine Koquelicot, we are dedicated to producing exquisite French-style Burgundy wines in the picturesque Istrian peninsula. Our wines are crafted from the finest Istrian grapes, combined with our passion for winemaking. Founded by Jacqueline Marovac and Olivier Ertzbischoff in Gracisce, Istria, Domaine Koquelicot reflects their deep appreciation for wine. Both founders are certified wine enthusiasts with expertise in enology and WSET Level 3. Their winemaking adventure began with white wines made from Chardonnay and Malvazija, utilizing traditional Burgundy vinification techniques. Following the success of their initial creations, they expanded their offerings to include a variety of high-quality wines. Istrian Bordeaux One of our standout creations is the ‘Nomad,’ a unique blend of Teran, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. This wine is aged in barrels for two years, resulting in a harmonious balance of acidity and tannins, earning it the nickname "Istrian Bordeaux." Additionally, our sparkling and rosé wines have gained popularity, often selling out quickly due to their exceptional quality. The Name, Domaine Koquelicot Unlike many wineries, Domaine Koquelicot does not carry a family name. Instead, it features a French-inspired name where "Domaine" signifies a vineyard, and "Koquelicot" reflects the founders' affection for the coquelicot flower. Just like this charming flower, our wines are designed to be simple, enjoyable, and elegant.

What a fantastic, warm experience we had with Jacqueline! The wines are superb, unique and delicious blends made with personality and warmth. She also introduced us to her friend’s EVOO Komarija, which is also excellent. If you’re looking for a personal, educational, local experience, Koquelicot is highly recommended. And take away some bottles to remember what you loved so much.
