Trapan Winery: In the Heart of Istria

Located in the picturesque wine region of Šišan, Trapan Winery is a gem in Istria, Croatia. Renowned for its commitment to 100% organic winemaking, this estate offers a unique experience for wine lovers. Strolling through the expansive vineyards, surrounded by lush grapevines and enjoying a glass of exquisite wine, is a delight that captures the essence of this enchanting region.

Manual Harvesting for Quality Wines

Spanning 12 hectares, Trapan's vineyards cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties. The flagship grape is Malvasia, complemented by Chardonnay and indigenous varieties like Teran, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the finest bunches are selected for crafting exceptional red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. The aromatic profiles of these wines are sure to captivate visitors.

Enjoy Exceptional Wines in a Welcoming Atmosphere

The Trapan story began in a modest garage next to the family home. Over the years, the owners expanded their vision by acquiring land in southern Istria and establishing a state-of-the-art wine cellar. Since 2005, the cellar has seen numerous enhancements, ensuring the highest quality of wine production.

The winery features dedicated spaces for vinification, aging, and bottling, along with a cozy tasting room in the basement where guests can savor the wines. A barrique room houses wines resting in oak barrels, imparting a rich, woody character to the final product.

Unfortunately it is no longer a restaurant, but the wine tasting is worth the visit, especially the Merlot. The plate of cured meats goes very well with the wines: a tasting of local products in the tasting. You need to provide yourself with time and patience: it is a slow experience, led by the owner who pours generous glasses while describing the wines.

Very good location, no registration required, very friendly hosts and really delicious wines. The sausage and cheese platter for two people was very tasty and plentiful, I can only recommend it. It was really fun and dogs are welcome too

It was a wonderful experience. Bruno is truly a master. He was incredibly kind and took the time to intricately explain his natural wine-making process. I would highly recommend booking a person tour on his winery

Because of the great reviews, we spontaneously stopped in on the way back with the aim of buying a white wine and a red wine. Did a small mini wine tasting in a few minutes as we were pressed for time. Despite this, I immediately had the great feeling that Bruno lives his wine and his job. Great atmosphere, no pressure to buy, top advice and explanations about the wines. Unfortunately not enough time, but definitely a full wine tasting next time. The two wines we took with us are absolutely top notch. A white wine that matures on the grapes for 2 weeks and then matures in a wooden barrel is a rarity in terms of craftsmanship and the taste is hard to describe. The red from local vines is also matured in a wooden barrel and, despite its rather dry structure, has super aromatic notes of blackberries. Absolutely delicious. Not cheap, but absolutely worth the price for the quality. Unfortunately we didn't have space in the car for more, but we will definitely order more. @Bruno: despite the short time available, thanks for the friendly advice and hospitality!

I tasted delicious wines with @vinoalfredo in a beautiful location. The host raves about the wines, and rightly so! Because they are delicious, I am not a big red wine lover, but these red wines were sublime. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Really nice wine tasting. We had such a fun afternoon. The wines were just as amazing as the conversations. We were greeted outside by 8 dogs and the father in law of the owner. It was immediatly like we belong to the family. Highly recommended if youre in the Pula area.

Bruno is a wonderful winemaker who knows his craft. We were able to taste 11 different wines and buy some of them. He presents them in an authentic and passionate way. We had a lot of fun and a good time with him in his wine station, and we did it spontaneously without having to make an appointment. We'd love to come back. Thank you!
