Award-Winning Wines from Istria's Scenic Coast
Pilato Family Legacy in Winemaking
Located in the charming village of Lasici on the Istrian Peninsula's West Coast, Pilato Family Farming has been dedicated to winemaking for over three generations. Initially, the estate focused on a mix of agriculture, livestock, and viticulture, but over the years, the family has honed their craft to specialize in producing exceptional wines.
The Evolution of Pilato Winery
The roots of Pilato Winery date back to 1934 when Ivan Pilato planted the first vineyard, laying the foundation for the family farm. By 1960, wine production expanded significantly, and in the 1990s, the family invested in modern machinery and vineyard expansion. Their hard work paid off in 1994 when they won a gold medal for Malvazija Istarska at the Vinistra festival, a recognition that motivated them to focus on high-quality Croatian wines. In 2002, their Chardonnay was awarded the title of the best white wine at the National Wine Festival Vinovita. Today, Pilato Winery boasts over 14 hectares of vineyards, with 70% dedicated to white grape varieties. The winery's cellar can produce up to 100,000 liters of wine using state-of-the-art equipment. Wine enthusiasts should not miss the award-winning selections, including Istrian Malvasia, Chardonnay, White Pinot, Sauvignon, Teran, White Muskat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malvazija Sur Lie.
