Welcome to Domaine Mas de Lavail
Founded in 1999 by Jean Battle, Domaine Mas de Lavail is a family-run winery that has deep roots in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. With the support of his grandfathers and inspired by the birth of his son, Jean established this estate in the heart of the Maury appellation. The vineyard benefits from a unique terroir characterized by clay-limestone soil, with part of it lying beneath the historic Cathar castle of Quéribus, where black shale enhances the grapes' flavor. The Grenache and Carignan varieties cultivated here are known for their remarkable concentration of sugar and flavor.
The Exceptional Terroir
Spanning 50 hectares, the vineyard features old vines of Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Syrah, and Carignan. These vines thrive in the clay and limestone soils, which impart a distinct minerality to the wines. The region's hot microclimate ensures that grapes reach full maturity, resulting in a harmonious balance of flavors. To maintain the freshness and aromatic qualities of the white grapes, harvests are conducted early in the morning when temperatures are cooler.

We visited Mas de Lavail today and tasted their really lovely wines. They produce everything from light, fruity white wines over refined and complex red wines to wonderful dessert wines. The latter without too much sweetness, but with many and fine flavor nuances. It should be added that Nicolas, Marie-Laure and Jean are the friendliest and most accommodating producers imaginable. You will not regret a visit to Mas de Lavail.

Yesterday I drank the red wine that I bought here 7.5 years ago, during a motorcycle tour through the region. Delicious wine, beautiful estate and friendly people. If I'm in the area I will definitely come back!

Family business to remember if you appreciate good, well-structured red wines. Their white Carignan is a treasure that I hesitate to share... The welcome is always warm. It's worth the little detpur of the highway. You will not be disappointed.

Visiting the surrounding area, it was without hesitation that we took our car to go to the estate. We were not disappointed, magnificent setting, warm welcome and tasting in a brand new cellar. The bottles are highlighted and each explanation is complete and full of passion. The wines are not left out. The white, red, dry or sweet are rich, fruity and marked by the local terroir. I recommend this estate and their wines without hesitation.
