Exceptional Wines from a Unique Terroir
Prime Location for Exceptional Wines
Durbanville Hills Winery is ideally situated just 20 minutes from Cape Town’s city center, offering breathtaking views of Table Mountain and Table Bay. This unique location provides an extraordinary terroir that stabilizes temperatures, preventing extreme heat and cold. While the Durbanville region is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, which thrives on the cool south-facing slopes, the warmer valley outskirts and northern slopes also contribute to a diverse range of high-quality red wines.
A Legacy of Passionate Producers
The success of Durbanville Hills Winery is rooted in the dedication of its producers, who recognized the potential of their premium grapes. In the late 1990s, seven grape farmers came together to establish a winery, leading to the first vintage in 1999. Today, nine member farms contribute to the winery, all located near the cellar. These include Klein Roosboom, Ongegund, Hillcrest, Maastricht, Morgenster, Bloemendal, and Hooggelegen, with Welbeloond and De Grendel joining recently. The region boasts a rich heritage, with Klein Roosboom dating back to 1714, making it one of the oldest farms in the area, alongside those established in Constantia in 1685.
