Exceptional Wines from the Coastal Region of South Africa
Idiom Wines is nestled on the picturesque slopes of Helderberg Mountain in the southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region. This area boasts ideal climatic conditions that contribute to the production of a remarkable variety of wines. Named to reflect the unique expressions of terroir and the blending of uncommon varietals, Idiom Wines pays homage to the European classics that inspired its creation. The Bottega family, proud of their Italian heritage, actively promotes Italian grape varieties in South Africa, enriching their diverse selection of wines.
Exceptional Vineyards of Idiom Wines
The vineyards, known as "Da Capo," meaning "from the beginning" or "from the Cape" in Italian, were established in 1999. Located at elevations between 200 and 350 meters above sea level, these vineyards benefit from north, west, and south-facing slopes, nestled at the base of stunning granite mountains. The distinctive Idiom Conical Peak makes the 150-hectare property easily recognizable. The soil composition includes shallow decomposed granite with rocky areas and a clay foundation, ideal for growing high-quality grapes.
Idiom Collection of Fine Wines
At the Idiom Restaurant and Wine Tasting Centre, visitors can enjoy a range of tasting experiences featuring flagship blends, iconic Italian varietals, and limited-edition 900 Series wines. The scenic views and unique architecture complement the tasting of these Italian-South African wines. The Bottega family's European roots are reflected in the quality and character of Idiom Wines, making them perfect for both special occasions and everyday enjoyment.
