Since its first release in 1988, Glen Carlou has gained recognition for its flagship Chardonnay, which has garnered numerous awards and a loyal following across 45 countries. Unique Terroir and Grape Varietals
The 145-hectare estate features 31 vineyard blocks, each carefully cultivated to reflect its specific location. Positioned at elevations of up to 230 meters, the vineyards benefit from the cooling southern winds from False Bay. This natural climate helps preserve the acidity and pH levels of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, resulting in wines that are true expressions of their terroir.


Commitment to Integrity and Sustainability
Glen Carlou’s winery is designed for efficiency, from grape reception to bottling. An underground cellar, built into the mountainside, provides optimal conditions for wine maturation, housing 2,500 French and American oak barrels. The winery employs a variety of winemaking techniques, including Nomblot eggs, stainless-steel tanks, and small-batch whole bunch pressing, allowing the team to maximize the potential of each harvest while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

We stopped at Glen Carlou since we had bought their wines in Germany. We came in at 11 and were honestly not quite sure what to do other than seeing the wines home. We were warmly welcomed to come in and make up our minds. We shared a tasting and enjoyed an outstanding MCC. Aneline did an amazing job introducing the wines. We ended up staying for lunch which was an amazing experience. Food was outstanding, service was great, we felt very welcome from start to finish, a great experience. We can only recommend Glen Carlou and oh by the way the wines are outstanding but we knew that when we came in 😉

Wonderful food,I had the ostrich, which I highly recommend. The shiraz wine was a good pairing. The scenery is beautiful, definitely worth a stop.

Went there for wine tasting on 05 October 2024 and we were not disappointed. Our seating options were either at the bar or outside on the high chairs. We opted to sit at the bar as we just came from another farm and it was hot outside with no breeze in sight. The person who served us was very professional. We ended up buying two bottles of wine. Beautiful views on the outside and friendly staff. Inside there is also an art gallery which you can view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely recommend it.

A simple and relaxing lunch overlooking the vineyard. Food is tasty and substantial, nothing extraordinary but beautifully paired to showcase the wine. Booking lunch in advance is essential. Good selection of red wines. Pairings and tastings available. A wonderful vineyard experience.
