An appealing location for Hollywood-directed movies, this area is more than stunning landscapes! You will get to roam around medieval towns and taste high-caliber wines, including the famous Brunello di Montalcino.

Escape the hustle and bustle of Florence and experience the heart of Tuscany by visiting the enchanting Val d’Orcia, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The area is famous for the movies "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Gladiator".

The tour is a symbiosis between sightseeing, food and wine pairing and tasting. You will roam around the streets of the medieval towns of Montepulciano and Pienza. You will visit two family-run wineries and taste a wide spectrum of prestigious wines, ranging from 100% Sangiovese (including the exquisite Brunello di Montalcino) to a mixture of wine varietals, unique in nature.

Lunch will be served at an organic farmhouse and restaurant that takes pride in producing high-quality products. Apart from a multi-course lunch, you will also feast on different types of raw milk cheeses, homemade bread and extra virgin olive oil.

Itinerary:

Florence
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Florence by 7,30am. Our driver will normally be at your address by 7,15am. We will then drive to the first winery which will take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

NB: If you do not provide a pickup location for your private tour, our default meeting point is: Borgo Ognissanti 70, Florence, Italy.

Montepulciano
First stop of the day. You will roam around this medieval town, atop a hill in southern Tuscany. Full of elegant Renaissance buildings, it is a must-see for travellers.

First winery
The winery is located close to the main house, surrounded entirely by vineyards. The hand-harvested grapes arrive in the cellar, where they are selected by hand and turned into wine. The wines are then oak-aged and bottled here. You will tour the entire property and will be introduced to the art of organic wine production. The first wine tasting of the day will take place here.

Pienza
Pienza is the second medieval town you will visit in Val d'Orcia. Situated between the towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino, it is considered the "touchstone of Renaissance urbanism".

Second winery
Tenuta F. Estate belongs to the family since 1800. It was transformed from a sharecropping company to a winery, marking an important transition. The property extends across 260 hectares of land: 55 hectares of vineyards, 60 of olive trees and 145 of crops and forest which surround the new wine cellar built in 2004. The soil has a volcanic origin and it is rich in skeleton, which is made of “galestro” and “alberese” rocks. Due to the low fertility of the land and the uniqueness of the terroir, the vines have a limited production of grapes and the wines produced have rare organoleptic characteristics. The winery converted to organic agriculture, in an attempt to safeguard the territory and improve the quality of the products, while respecting consumers’ health. Here you will have a guided tour of the winery to understand the company’s philosophy, retracing together the various phases of wine production. You will understand the identity of the vineyards during the wine tasting in the panoramic terrace. The wines will be paired with typical Montalcino dishes prepared by the expert hands of their chefs. The experience will be accompanied by a tasting of their extra virgin olive oil.

Florence
Your guide for the day will drop you back to where you were picked up. Guides can drop clients back to other locations with prior notice.

Very nice place. The dishes are carefully prepared and of excellent quality. The service is attentive and fast. The choice of location was random, but it was worth it. We also enjoyed chatting with the owner, who, despite it being closing time, still spent time with us.

Mostly good. The food was good but could be improved in my opinion. The setting, however, is very pleasant, both the decor and the music. It's a shame the servers weren't the most friendly… we felt like we were bothering them when we asked for things.
