The Legacy of Famille Valéry Winery

For over three generations, the Valery family has been dedicated to crafting exceptional wines. The journey began in 1950 when Gilbert Valery planted the first vineyard and acquired a 30-hectare estate with a cellar in Sauvian. By 1972, he had constructed a modern cellar with a winemaking capacity of 25,000 hectoliters. Following Gilbert's passing in 1974, his children, Patricia and Michel, took the reins, leveraging their extensive experience to produce their first bottled wine in 2001. Today, visitors can find a wide selection of wines at their charming wine shop in Sauvian. The family also manages the historic “Domaine des Deux Ruisseaux” and the production of “Château Le Thou.”

The Wines of Famille Valéry

Innovation is at the heart of Famille Valéry. They have introduced a semi-sweet wine called Eden, perfect for aperitifs, packaged in a modern style. The winery cultivates a variety of noble aromatic grapes, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Muscat, Roussanne, Petit Manseng, and Grenache Blanc for their white wines. For red wines, they harvest Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection.

I have just opened my last bottle of Mas des Pins 2012, a vintage sold under the Soleil brand in barrel, but vinified by Valéry in Sauvian. In the same vein I preferred the 2011. In any case, former salesman for Soleil en barrel, it’s a wine that I really appreciate. It was the same for my clients. Since then, I have not followed the evolution of Maison Valéry and I will quickly correct this gap. This particular vintage has excellent value for money and has aged unexpectedly and even very well.
