A Visionary Woman Behind Fattoria Le Pupille's Success

The winery launched its first official label, ‘Morellino Riserva 1978,’ in 1982. However, the pivotal moment came in 1985 when Elisabetta Geppetti took the helm as director. With the support of her friend Giacomo Tachis, she dedicated herself to revitalizing Fattoria Le Pupille. The introduction of Saffredi in 1987 marked a significant milestone, showcasing the quality of Maremma wines. In 1996, the acquisition of the Poggio Valente vineyard expanded Le Pupille's reach, covering thirty hectares between Pereta and Magliano. The diverse soil, primarily sandy with stones and sandstones, nurtures the renowned Sangiovese grape, along with Petit Verdot, Alicante, Semillon, and Ciliegiolo. Additionally, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah flourish on five hectares. Wine enthusiasts will find a delightful selection of red, white, and dessert wines at Fattoria Le Pupille.

The tour of the winery and the wine tasting (make sure you choose the most expensive option, it's worth it) are an experience! Davide is very competent and entertaining, the wines are top-class and seductive. It's a pleasure to feel the passion and high quality standards of the team. Place where all senses enjoy. We had cordial welcome, friendly, casual yet professional tour around winery by Davide, and great wine tasting. It was a pleasure to listen how the story and business developed of the decades, in a gorgeous environment of the new building of their. Along the amazing wines we got local delicatecies, all hand made. Impressive in any sense.

The visit to the winery was definitely more than worth the trip. We were given a very warm welcome and both the tour of the winery and the tasting were very professional and very pleasant. Ludmilla took a lot of time for my wife and me. All of our questions about the wines, the winery and the family were answered and we felt really comfortable. Yes, it costs money but Ludmilla's time, the wines and the feeling are all worth it. We opened the first bottle as soon as we got back as a souvenir of our vacation. Thank you very much and best wishes from Austria.
