Explore Maremma's wines at Azienda Agricola Purovino: sustainable practices, sulfite-free wines, and immersive sensorial experiences in the Tuscany wine region
Fattoria Le Pupille, is located in the hilly part of Maremma, and produces one of the most popular Supertuscans, Saffredi. This wine is dedicated from Elisabetta Geppetti to her father who was never able to drink from the wines which vineyards he orginally planted.
Together with a great oenologist, Fattoria Le Pupille create elegant and fine wines inspired from French super stars but with grape varieties grown on the hilly part of Maremma. As a southern extremity of Tuscany, the Maremma region is famous for its wild and picturesque nature. The beauty of this place manages to conquer anyone and everyone who visits it.
Fattoria Le Pupille released its first official label, ‘Morellino Riserva 1978’ in 1982. But the real turning point for Le Pupille was in 1985 when current owner Elisabetta Geppetti became the director of the Le Pupille. In the same year, Elisabetta Geppetti along with her friend Giacomo Tachis, put her dedication and energy to re-establish Fattoria Le Pupille. In 1987, with the introduction of Saffredi, the legendary wine changed the game at Fattoria Le Pupille that made the superiority of Maremma well known. In the year 1996, the purchase of the Poggio Valente vineyard gave Le Pupille a more significant face. Thirty hectares of land between Pereta and Magliano are covered with vines. The soil composition is also different, but is predominantly sandy, rich of stones and sandstones. These vineyards are the kingdom of the famous Sangiovese, but along with that in the vineyards are also cultivated Petit Verdot, Alicante, Semillon, Alicante and Ciliegiolo. Further, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grow on five hectares. If you are a great lover of wine, then you may plan a trip to Fattoria Le Pupille to enjoy the taste of red, white, and dessert wines.
