Fattoria Montereggi Winery has a rich history spanning nearly a century, rooted in a commitment to respecting both nature and the art of winemaking. This winery embodies elegance and tradition, producing some of the finest wines in Tuscany.

A Name Steeped in History

The name Montereggi originates from a hill where the King of Goths, Radaigaiso, is said to have hidden his treasure after a defeat by the Romans. Known as “Mons Regis” in Latin, or King’s Hill, this name adds an intriguing layer to the winery's identity. Established in 1926, Fattoria Montereggi shifted its focus post-World War II to specialize in vineyards and olive groves, embracing the agricultural heritage of Tuscany.

A Commitment to the Land

Located in the picturesque Fiesole hills, Fattoria Montereggi takes great care of its land. The winery believes that nurturing the soil leads to bountiful harvests. With a favorable microclimate and optimal sunlight exposure, the calcareous clay soil contributes to the exceptional quality of their wines. The winery’s dedication to sustainable practices ensures that the land continues to thrive.

Consistency in Quality

Maintaining high standards for nearly a century is no small feat, yet Fattoria Montereggi has succeeded. The winery continues to honor its traditions, with a focus on sharecropping and a deep respect for nature. This commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in every bottle of wine produced.

Wonderful place where we received a very warm welcome, in a picturesque setting, far from the classic tourist farms. Giorgio showed us around the place and spoiled us with excellent local Tuscan products that accompanied our wine and oil tasting. We left delighted with all our purchases, quality at this price is rare in Tuscany! Thanks again.

We were looking for a wine tasting with a local feel and the host gave us exactly that! He arranged for the tour in the afternoon although we called him in the morning. He and his family were very accommodating and went an extra mile to make the experience enjoyable for us and our child! The setting itself is very authentic and rustic taking you into their world. The host was very polite by answering all the questions although there were many of them! We picked up 4 bottles after the tour and are definitely not disappointed. The wines are rich in taste and have a wonderful aroma. Thanks again for the wonderful experience! It was like visiting a home in Tuscany! Please keep it that way!

A great opportunity to see how small batch wine is made in the area. The farm has a rustic feel and the hosts are friendly and authentic. The wines and olive oil are excellent and cellar door very reasonably priced. Spend an hour or two here away from the tourist crowds of Florence and get a feel for everyday life in the tuscan countryside. NB: Best to drive or have transportation pre booked as it might prove difficult to get a return taxi into Florence.
