The Vineyards of Khomlis Marani

The vineyards thrive on the slopes of the mystical Khvamli Mountain, where unique climatic conditions protect the delicate grape buds from frost. During chilly spring mornings, the warmer air on the slopes creates a safe haven for the vines. Hand-cultivated with minimal human intervention, Khomlis Marani’s vineyards are located in the Lechkhumi region, specifically in the village of Okureshi, within the Usakhelouri cultivation micro-zone. The winery uses organic fertilizers and bio-preparations, earning it a certification as a fully organic winery.

The owner welcomed us into his home and let us taste his very precious and unique wine, completely natural and produced according to ancient practices. He described his work, the history of his wine and his land to us. With his stories he conveyed to us all the love and passion that he puts into his work every day, and which also shines through in the wonderful flavor of his wine.
