The Meaning Behind the Name

Korta Katarina Winery is nestled in Croatia's Dalmatia region, a place celebrated for its rich culture, historic seaports, and winemaking traditions that trace back to the Roman Empire. The term “kortas” refers to gardens that served as gathering spots for sea captains and sailors. The name Korta Katarina honors these gardens and is also a tribute to the daughter of owners Lee and Penny Anderson.

A Blend of American Spirit and Croatian Heritage

In 2001, Americans Lee and Penny Anderson visited post-war Croatia with the St. David’s Relief Foundation to provide humanitarian aid. During their travels, they were captivated by the stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and delightful cuisine of southern Croatia, especially the local wines. Their passion for wine and newfound love for Croatia led them to establish Korta Katarina, which released its first vintage in 2006. Since then, the Andersons have developed a state-of-the-art winery, tasting room, and the boutique hotel, Villa Korta Katarina.

A Prime Location for Wine Lovers

Though relatively new, Korta Katarina has made a name for itself in the Croatian wine market. Located on the picturesque Pelješac Peninsula, the winery is conveniently situated away from the bustling tourist hub of Dubrovnik, yet easily accessible. Surrounded by the sparkling Adriatic Sea, this location offers a serene backdrop for wine enthusiasts and travelers alike.

We were in the wine bar. Kristijan looked after us very well, was attentive and was able to explain everything well. We also got a short tour of the wine cellar with explanations. We felt very good the whole time. The wine Plavac Mali and the Reserva Rubens are top wines.

Great setting, great wines, very good boards but a little small. The wines remain expensive but affordable 165k for their classic 2009 excellent. To try if you like wine.

We visited Korta Katarina Winery for a wine and food pairing and it lived up to its reputation of fantastic quality and service. The manager Goran arranged a nice pairing for us even though it was a bit outside of winery hours. The wines were wonderful and among the best we had in our tours of Croatia wine country. Our server Marko was excellent and made our evening very special. Both Marko and Goran provided us with a very memorable experience for my girlfriend's Birthday. The winery setting looking over the grounds of the Inn and the ocean are stunning and very romantic. Orebic is a very relaxed place with amazing beauty. I hope you also enjoy Korta Katarina as we did! Thank you Marko for wonderful service!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Korta Katarina winery, and it was a delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, the beautiful surroundings and stunning views set the stage for a memorable day. Our guide, Luka, was exceptional. He was not only knowledgeable about the wine-making process but also great with children. He took the time to engage my child, making the experience fun and interactive. Luka introduced us to the various wines and explained the unique characteristics of each one, all while maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The winery itself is beautifully designed, with a lovely tasting area that offers breathtaking views of the landscape. The wines we tasted were exquisite, showcasing the region's best offerings. Each sip was a testament to the care and passion that goes into every bottle. Overall, I highly recommend Korta Katarina winery for anyone seeking a fantastic wine-tasting experience. Thank you, Luka, for making our visit so enjoyable! I can’t wait to return!

We can be proud to have a winery like this in Croatia. I don't know if I have more praise for the wines, the view or a fantastic service here. I spent a half day here and I am so amazed. This is how we should do things. Thank you! Edit: Special thanks to Luka, great service and recommendations!
