A Legacy of Winemaking in Tokaj-Hegyalja Since the 1800s
Kvaszinger Winery: A Gem in Tokaj-Hegyalja
Nestled in the picturesque village of Olaszliszka, Kvaszinger Winery is situated in one of Hungary's premier wine regions, Tokaj-Hegyalja. The estate spans over 8.5 hectares, where a variety of grapes flourish amidst stunning landscapes and lush vineyards.
A Rich Family Heritage
The Kvaszinger family has a long-standing history in winemaking that dates back to the 19th century. Their journey began when their ancestors migrated from Prussia to Hungary. The family's first winemaker took charge of the Meszes Estate, overseeing vineyard operations for Baron Vay and eventually becoming the estate's manager.
Modern Developments at the Winery
Over time, the family acquired the Hatalos vineyard, which is now the heart of Kvaszinger Winery and is primarily dedicated to the renowned Furmint grape. Today, László Kvaszinger passionately manages all aspects of viticulture and wine production, ensuring the family legacy continues.
In addition to Furmint, the winery cultivates native varieties such as Hárslevelű and Zeta, along with the newly introduced Sárgamuskotály. Recent upgrades include stainless steel fermentation tanks with cooling systems, enhancing the winemaking process. The winery matures its white and dessert wines in oak barrels, carefully monitored for optimal conditions.
With a commitment to quality and tradition, Kvaszinger Winery remains a significant player in the Tokaj wine scene, inviting wine enthusiasts to appreciate its rich heritage and exceptional wines.
