Kvaszinger Winery, Located in the Heart of Tokaj-Hegyalja
Kvaszinger Winery is located in one of the best winegrowing regions in Tokaj-Hegyalja, Hungary. Positioned beautifully in the charming village of Olaszliszka, the estate is surrounded by scenic landscapes and flanked by vineyards in all directions. Currently, the estate grows over 8.5 hectares of land dedicated to the cultivation of varieties of grapes.
Family History
For many generations, the Kvaszinger Family has cultivated grapes and produced wines in Tokaj, dating back to the 19th century. This tradition began in a time when the ancestors of the winemaking family moved to Hungary from Prussia. The first member of the Kvaszinger Family started working in the Meszes Estate, situated on the Italian Liszt’s edge. He supervised all the vineyard work of Baron Vay and became the head of the estate.
Changes in the Winery
Later, he managed to purchase the Hatalos vineyard – the winery’s main vineyard, dedicated to the cultivation of estate’s flagship vine variety, Furmint.
Today, László Kvaszinger handles all the viticulture and wine production phases at Kvaszinger Winery with great dedication and effort to keep the legacy alive.
Along with Furmint, the owner grows native Hárslevelű and Zeta, along with a newly introduced grape variety – Sárgamuskotály, in the Meszes vineyard. Over the years, many changes can be seen in the winery and wine production. New fermentation tanks have been installed, made of stainless steel, and equipped with cooling devices. For maturation and refinement of grains, the Tokaj wines, mainly white and dessert, are stored in wooden oak barrels under controlled temperature.
