Simkó Pince Winery: a real family-run winery
Sárospatak lies in northern Hungary in the Bodrog River Basin. This town often referred to as Patak and is an important cultural centre. Situated among this beauty, close to Rákócsi-Castle of Sárospatak is the Simkó Pince winery.
How often do we hear of wineries run completely by family alone? This winery is a perfect example of a family-run enterprise, where no other employees but family run the entire place. Founded by Sándor and Marcsi Simkó in 1994, this winery underwent some changes in 2013 with the next generation i.e. their children leveling up the game.
The winery has been running smoothly like the wine they make ever since the beginning
Taste the wide range of different wine styles
The winery is spread across 12 hectares of land on wine hills such as Királyhegy in Sárospatak, Zsádany in Sárazsádany and Kincsem near Tolcsva. There are several grape varietals grown in this vineyard, namely, Furmint, Hárslevelu, Sárgamuskotály, Zéta, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. These varietals are used to produce semi sweet, sweet, dry and semi dry wines which maybe White wine, Sparkling wine or Dessert wine.
