La Rajade: A Prime Location for Winemaking

Nestled between the picturesque hills and mountains along the borders of Friuli and Slovenia, La Rajade is situated in the esteemed Collio wine region. The vineyards, stretching alongside the Isonzo River and its tributary, the Judrio River, provide an ideal environment for vine cultivation. La Rajade exemplifies the harmony of tradition and innovation, crafting aromatic wines that capture the true essence of the local terroir.

Revitalizing a Historic Winery

In 2005, two prominent families from Varmo, the Campeottos and Faurlins, took on the challenge of revitalizing an ancient winery, giving birth to La Rajade. Committed to traditional winemaking methods, they replanted the vineyards with unique grape varieties and initiated a new production line. Over the years, modern equipment and techniques have been integrated into the cellar to ensure the highest quality wines. A new tasting room was also established within the cellar, providing visitors with a delightful space to savor the wines.

Wines That Reflect the Local Terroir

The region surrounding La Rajade features a blend of sandstone and marl, where a diverse range of grapes flourish, including Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, and Malvasia Istriana. The estate also cultivates fruity varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Schioppettino. During harvest, only the ripest and juiciest grapes are handpicked and fermented in stainless steel tanks. La Rajade produces both red and white wines, proudly bottled under the Collio DOC and Venezia Giulia IGT labels, showcasing the unique characteristics of the region.

Best sauvignon ever!! it was a pleasant discovery a few years ago in an evening with friends for the delivery of a job and the sauvignon proposed at the time, which I didn't yet know, literally struck me. Then little by little the discovery of other specialties continued and, even today, a few years later, I wholeheartedly confirm my esteem for this company. Five stars without a doubt.
