Azienda Cantarutti Alfieri is a family-owned winery located in San Giovanni al Natisone, a charming town in the heart of the Rosazzo Hills in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This picturesque estate features hillside vineyards and a historic abbey perched atop the hill. Founded in the late sixties by Alfieri Cantarutti, the winery has become renowned for producing exceptional Friuli Colli Orientali DOC wines. Today, the passion for winemaking continues with daughter Antonella and her husband Fabrizio, who oversee every aspect of the winery.
Autochthonous Grape Varieties of Friuli
The winery spans 56 hectares of lush vineyards, where a variety of grapes flourish. Among the cultivated varieties are Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, Merlot, and Pignolo. This diverse selection reflects the unique terroir of the region and contributes to the winery's distinctive offerings.
Two Specialties to Savor
Azienda Cantarutti Alfieri combines modern technology with traditional winemaking techniques to create high-quality wines that have earned acclaim both in Italy and internationally. Their product line features a range of red, white, and rosé wines, including a selection of Friuli Colli Orientali DOC and Friuli Grave DOC wines. Notably, the winery takes pride in its two sparkling wines made exclusively from Pinot Nero: Prologo and Epilogo. The location of the company is magnificent with a panoramic view of the Friulian plain and excellent sunsets. Even the vines enjoy this reality. Like going to visit a friend. We stopped at the winery during one of our trips. Mrs Antonella was really kind to host us to taste her wines and tell us a little about the region which we will certainly return to visit.

Welcomed and guided by Mrs. Antonella, we took a pleasant tour of the vineyards and the cellar. He explained to us many aspects of this wonderful world... and whose love and commitment we felt! Excellent tasting: we promise to come back with friends!

I was welcomed into the company by Rodolfo and Gloria who accompanied me to the cellar to taste some of the local excellences they produce, sharing their working life experience and their connection with the territory. I was particularly impressed by the Pignolo. I recommend arranging a guided tour of their company as I did, possibly with Rodolfo who knows how to fascinate with his working knowledge; the number is 0432/756317 which you can find on their web page and which I found on the brochure they left me at the end of the visit. The illustrated brochure in two languages, Italian and English, is also beautiful. I also recommend it for the scenic view of the hills below the company located on top of a hill, it's worth it!
