Il Roncal Winery, Built Around Unesco World Heritage Site

Il Roncal is a small estate of 20 hectares, terraced on the Montebello Hill, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, only 3 km away from the historical center of Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here Martina Moreale carries on the project of her husband Roberto, founder of the winery. Day after day, the diligent care of this land offers its best fruits, harvested to create high-quality wines. They own a resort to accommodate guests who want to spend a relaxing time away from city life.

Savory Wines That Reflects the Area

The estate of Il Roncal is surrounded by an impressive landscape and by numerous vineyards. It is possible to find different varieties of wine, each presenting its own peculiarities and unique characteristics. Each distinctive feature results from the dedicated passion of the winegrowers and from technical expertise, which throughout the years has lead to perfection. Their vineyards grow in a marly soil that has perfect exposure to sunlight and an ideal microclimate.

Organically Cultivated Vineyards

The vineyards produce the best grapes each year used to make full-bodied, fragrant, and fresh wines. The use of manual, innovative techniques without any use of chemicals keep the wines natural and help preserve the environment. Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Malvasia, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pignolo,etc., are some of the varieties grown here. In the cellar, vinification takes place with a combination of tradition and modern technology. Temperature-controlled fermentation helps preserve the grapes’ properties and natural aroma. French oak barrels are used for ageing, and a vault house holds many of their old vintages and wine labels.
