Savor the Rich Flavors of Pic Saint Loup Wines
Welcome to Mas Gourdou
Mas Gourdou winery is located just 25 km from Montpellier, nestled along the banks of the Gard and Hérault rivers in the picturesque Pic-Saint-Loup appellation. This family-owned estate has been cherished since the French Revolution, with vineyards sprawling across several communes, including Valflaunes and Sauteyrargues.
The Unique Terroir of Mas Gourdou
Situated at the foot of the Hortus Mountains, the vineyards thrive at an elevation of 150 meters, protected from the chilly northern winds like the Mistral and Tramontana. The south-eastern exposure ensures ample sunlight, perfect for ripening grapes. The primary grape varieties cultivated here include Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, and Clairette. The vines are planted in small plots surrounded by lush forests of holm oaks and Aleppo pines. The signature red wines of Mas Gourdou, primarily crafted from Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, are known for their rich aromas of ripe red fruits and are aged in cellars for three to four years. The surrounding Mediterranean flora, including rosemary, thyme, arbutus, and lavender, enhances the wines' aromatic profile.
