Meerendal Wine Estate is a family-owned vineyard situated in the Western Cape of South Africa, only 20 minutes from Cape Town. The Estate is home to a dedicated team of people who are passionate to produce high-quality grapes from its vineyards. In the cellar, these grapes will then be transformed into exceptional wines.

Meerendal Wine Estate offers luxury accommodation, dining and venue facilities, and runs a Wine Academy. The Estate also hosts a diverse number of events, enjoyed by South Africans and international audiences.

Our Heritage

Established in 1702, Meerendal’s wine heritage started in 1714 when 60 000 vines were planted. More than three hundred years later, we continue this proud history, with over 150 000 vines on the Estate.

Old Vines

A founding member of the Old Vine Project, Meerendal annually harvests 21 tons of grapes from a block of Pinotage planted in 1955. A limited quantity of Meerendal Heritage Block Pinotage gets released, with 2005 as the first vintage.

A winery with excellent food and a beautiful boutique hotel, extensive walking paths and trails for cycling. Events. The wine is fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2 restaurants on the winery, both very good. Very child-friendly. We have been there twice now and would come again. All sights are very easy to get to, close to Durbanville, has a great shopping center. Cape Town can be reached quickly via the expressway.

Lovely wine estate to visit. Very busy during the holiday and weekends. They are wheelchair friendly and have an are for the kids to play. There is wine tasting and sales and even a wine safari tour you can take through the Winelands. Go and enjoy!
