Founded in 1810, Morgado do Quintão is a historic family estate in the Algarve, where four generations have blended heritage, creativity, and sustainability to craft low-intervention wines that honor the land and its traditions.
Our History
Morgado do Quintão was founded in 1810 and has remained in our family ever since. Over more than 200 years, the estate has navigated shifting political tides and the dramatic transformation of the Algarve during the tourism boom of the 1980s and ’90s—years that saw many vineyards give way to development.
In 2017, stewardship passed to us from our mother, Teresa Pereira Caldas de Vasconcellos (1941–2017), an experimental contemporary artist and professor. Her curiosity and creative practice nurtured a profound bond with this place, inspiring us to protect its landscape and traditions while embracing thoughtful innovation.
Across four generations, each family member has contributed a unique chapter—tending old vines, restoring dry-stone walls, and preserving local grape varieties—so that the next generation could build upon a living legacy. Today, we continue that work with low-intervention wines and meaningful wine tourism experiences that celebrate the Algarve’s cultural heritage, the resilience of our land, and the enduring spirit of our family home.
