Organic & Biodynamic Certified Winery
Beautified by unspoiled countryside and woodlands, Mulini di Segalari is a family-run winery nestled on the first coastal hills of Felciaino, Castagneto Carducci. Started in 2002, the old historic mills of 1700 were restored and renovated for winemaking operations. Inside one of the mills, an ancient tower, the Torre di Segalari, is a perfect tourist and wine tasting spot.
Mulini di Segalari – The Member of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers
Mills di Segalari was established by two dedicated and passionate wine-lovers, Emilio Monechi and Marina Tinacci Mannelli. Emilio is an oenologist, while Marina is a creative architect, and together, the duo restored the old mills and replanted the vineyards of DOC Bolgheri. The company is part of the Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti and has adopted organic wine production methods, respecting biodiversity and Mother Nature.
Wines are Aged in Terracotta Containers & Oak Barrels
The vineyards are stretched over an area of 2.7 hectares, where Emilio and Marina grow a wide array of grapes. They cultivate red varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah, along with Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Pugnitello. Inbetween fruity reds, the estate grows white vines, such as Vermentino, Manzoni Bianco, and Viognier. The vines are matured with fertilizers, producing authentic berries – a true expression of the terroirs. In the cellar, the wines are aged and refined in cement and terracotta tanks with wooden oak barrels of 10 to 23 hectoliter capacity.
