Experience Wine in a Historic Tuscan Castle
At Pieve de’ Pitti, nestled in the scenic Lands of Pisa, we turned our passion for winemaking into reality. Leaving our previous careers behind, we dedicated ourselves to crafting exceptional Chianti. My journey began with our oldest vineyard, planted by my grandfather in the late 1960s. With the guidance of experts and countless hours of learning, I traveled the world, tasting wines and gaining insights into diverse winemaking techniques. In 2001, we proudly launched Pieve de’ Pitti with our inaugural vintage, which received acclaim and inspired us to seek out high-quality Sangiovese grapes.
Our vineyard benefits from unique soils rich in shells and fossils, shaped by the refreshing sea breezes from the South-West. These winds enhance the character of our grapes, leading us to plant Vermentino in unconventional soils influenced by the nearby coast. Our love for vibrant white wines drives this choice.
We also cherish the late harvest Trebbiano, a golden grape with a rich history in the Lands of Pisa. Additionally, we introduced Syrah to add a touch of spice and excitement to our classic offerings.
We believe that exceptional wine starts in the vineyard. By using only our own grapes, we ensure quality in every bottle. Our winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the true essence of our grapes to shine. We practice sustainable farming, avoiding pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and herbicides. Our commitment to authenticity means we create our own compost and generate energy from waste, closing the loop in our production process.
Harvesting is done by hand, with meticulous care taken for our exclusive labels, where each grape is tasted to ensure its quality. Above all, we believe wine should be enjoyed with friends and good food, and every bottle should be savored until the last drop.
Despite the hard work in the vineyard, we are always eager to welcome visitors to Pieve de’ Pitti. Join us for a glass of wine and share in our passion for winemaking.
