Explore Wines Made in Luxuriant Mediterranean Scrub

I Pilastri, A Family Run Organic Winery

I Pilastri is a family-run boutique winery located on the hills of Fosdinovoi, a commune in the province of Massa and Carrara in Tuscany, located about 110 kilometers northwest of Florence.
The region is home to a medieval castle of the Malaspina family, rulers of the duchy of Massa. The Pascale family started the company in 1992 to produce the extra virgin oil and transformed it into the winery in 2010 with the help of daughter Francesca. The Pascale Francesca farm stands out as organic from the start. The winery doesn’t intervene with chemical pushes to the normal cycle of nature.

Vermentino is the first variety to be planted on the Fosdinovoi farm followed by Vermentino Nero, Canaiolo, and Merlot.

Soils of Fosdinovoi

The Fosdinovoi hill is gifted with clay and minerals that push the acidity on the grapes which are partly enhanced by the luxuriant Mediterranean scrub, broom, oak, and strawberry trees along the paths to the vineyard. The first vinification took place in 2013 in the cellars of Terenzuola from where today’s oenologist Claudia Felisso arrived. Since 2015, the vinifications have been autonomous and carried out in their new cellar.
