Experience Authentic Tuscan Living in San Gimignano
Poderi Arcangelo is nestled in the picturesque hills of San Gimignano, with roots dating back to the early 1900s. Founded by Giuseppe Mora, who moved from the Marche region in search of a better life, the winery began with a modest vineyard of just one hectare known as “Podere dell’Arcangelo.” The Mora family’s dedication to winemaking has been unwavering ever since. In the 1980s and 1990s, Bruno Mora revitalized the vineyards, passionately cultivating native grape varieties such as Sangiovese and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Today, Poderi Arcangelo spans 23 hectares of specialized vineyards and 1,800 olive trees, all managed organically. Sandra Mora and her son Alberto continue the family tradition, producing around 140,000 liters of wine annually, including a selection of 90,000 bottles across ten labels, featuring white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines. A highlight of their offerings is the pure Vernaccia "PerBruno," crafted in terracotta amphorae and dedicated to the founder. Since 2000, the winery has been committed to ecological practices, being one of the first in the area to achieve organic certification. With a 50 kW photovoltaic system and a wastewater treatment system using phytodepuration, Poderi Arcangelo is dedicated to sustainability. The winery also features three beautifully restored farmhouses that provide guests with a serene retreat and a taste of authentic Tuscan cuisine. Visitors can savor traditional dishes made from organic farm products, such as homemade pasta, ribollita, and the famous Florentine steak, all paired with the estate's wines. Guests can enjoy guided tours of the winery, hiking along the Via Francigena, or horseback riding nearby. Poderi Arcangelo is recognized as one of the most cherished agriturismos in Tuscany, offering a perfect blend of wine, food, and nature for an unforgettable experience in the Chianti region near San Gimignano.
