The Mendes family has deep agricultural roots, establishing Quinta de Silvoso Winery in the lush Vinho Verde region of Portugal. In the 1980s, António Mendes laid the foundation for the winery, combining his knowledge of livestock farming with viticulture. By 1985, he recognized the unique potential of the local terroir and expanded his vineyard, planting new vines to enhance the quality of his wines.

Commitment to Sustainability

At Quinta de Silvoso, environmental stewardship is a priority. The winery focuses on sustainable practices to protect natural resources while improving wine quality. In 1998, they took a significant step forward by launching their first estate sparkling wine, showcasing their commitment to innovation and excellence.

A Family Affair in Vinho Verde

Quinta de Silvoso is a true family-run winery. António Mendes works alongside his son Ricardo, who oversees enology and exports, and his daughter Rita, who manages the domestic market. His daughter-in-law, Ana Carvalho, also plays a vital role in the wine sector. Together, they produce around 200,000 liters of wine from local grape varieties such as Azal, Vinhão, Espadeiro, Arinto, and Loureiro. With a strong foundation and a focus on quality, Quinta de Silvoso is poised for a bright future in the global wine market, offering memorable experiences for wine enthusiasts.
