A Legacy of Winemaking in Dão & Lafões
A Family Wine Farm
For over a century, the Monteiro Albuquerque family has been dedicated to winemaking, spanning seven generations. In 2006, the fifth generation launched a new chapter by establishing a producer-bottler project under their own brand. This initiative included restructuring the vineyards and building a modern winery. Their first wine, Quinta dos Monteirinhos – Red 2010, hit the market in 2013, followed by their inaugural Encruzado in 2014. This agricultural project honors the rich history of a Beira Alta farming family while showcasing the elegance and quality of Dão wines.
The Wines
Each wine is named in tribute to family members who have shaped their legacy: Avô António (Grandfather Antonio), Avó Fernanda (Grandmother Fernanda), Pai Miguel (Father Miguel), and Rosa Maria (Mother Rosa Maria). Additionally, they honor Manel Chaves, a close family friend and mentor to the winemaker, as well as Afonso, the first member of the seventh generation and their beloved grandson.
At Quinta dos Monteirinhos, we treat our guests like family, inviting you to share in our passion for winemaking and the Dão region.
